The social assistance rate fell again in 2023, reaching 2.8%
Neuchâtel, 16.12.2024 - In 2023, 249 700 persons in Switzerland received social assistance in the form of a financial benefit on at least one occasion. In comparison with the previous year, this represented a decline of 0.1 percentage points in the social assistance rate, to 2.8%. This was the lowest level since 2005 and can be explained by positive labour market conditions in 2023. These are some of the findings of the Swiss Social Assistance Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
