Prospects for Albania's Youth
About one-third of young people in Albania are unemployed. The economy is growing, but the skills of many young people do not match the needs of businesses—and companies lack qualified workers. In rural areas in particular, there is also a lack of access to career counseling and good jobs. Through RisiAlbania, Switzerland has supported young people in entering the workforce for over twelve years, thereby strengthening the labor market in such a way that the structures put in place will continue to have an impact even after the project ends.
Results
- Thanks to the project, approximately 19,000 young Albanians found employment.
- 12,000 young people received further training.
- Over 100,000 people took advantage of career counseling services.
- Supported companies generated an additional net revenue of 3.9 million euros.
- Sustainable career counseling, training, and industry structures were established that will continue to exist even after the project ends.
- The agricultural processing, tourism, and ICT sectors were particularly strengthened.
